DCM Citation: “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During a counter-attack he set a magnificent example by penetrating further into a village than anyone else and bringing back valuable information as to the location of the enemy. Hearing that an enemy officer had entered a house about 300 yards in front of the line, he crossed “No Man’s Land” in daylight and cleverly captured him, thus securing an important identification.” (LG 03.09.18)
