Formerly a painter for the Bolton Corporation. Reported missing since 30 July 1916 and subsequently presumed to have died on that date.
Husband of Mary Whittle (nee Greenwood), of 96. Blackburn Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously served in the 27th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers. Enlisted 4204, 3rd Battalion, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Home service and Gibraltar only. Demobilised Class Z 27 March 1919. Possible death 1922, and interment at Astley Bridge Cemetery, 23 September 1922.
