Adams, Benjamin – Private

Son of Herbert and Mary Adams, of 85, Firs Street, Cadishead, Lancashire. Reached rank of Corporal in 21st Battalion, Manchester Regiment, but was demoted back to Private for absenting himself. Was also wounded in both legs.

Barrow, Peter – Warrant Officer Class II (Company Sergeant Major)

Son of James Barrow, of 12, Hayes Road, Cadishead, Lancashire. DCM Citation: “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He successfully resisted an enemy attempt to bomb down the trench, and personally shot six. He set a very fine example of courage and energy, both in fighting the enemy and in causing his own wounded to be saved.” (LG 03.09.18)
