DCM Citation: “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When his section commander was killed, this man took command of the Lewis gun team, and pushed his gun up to within ten yards of the enemy, maintaining a steady fire at point-blank range. This held up the enemy in front until a party worked round the rear and captured them. This man’s initiative thus cleared that part of the line.” (LG 03.09.18)
