Formerly 24840, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Died in hospital in India from dysentery. Interred at Karachi Cemetery, A/D. O. 29. Three brothers also served.

Ashurst, Robert Haslam –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ashurst, of 49, SLackey Brow, Kearsley, Lancashire, husband of Mary Ellen Ashurst (nee Roscoe), of 61, Old Hall Street, Kearsley, Lancashire and formerly of 14, Tonge Street, Kearsley, Lancashire. Suffered severe gunshot wounds in the hand and thumb 23/10/1917, and treated at 6th General Hospital.

Enlisted August 1914, aged 15. Reported missing in the Dardanelles and subsequently presumed killed. St. Gregory’s R.C. Church, Farnworth.
