Ainsworth, William Rostron –

Son of Joseph and Alice Ann Ainsworth, of Edgworth, Lancashire. Served in South Africa in the Boer War. Discharged 14/02/1900 and subsequently died as a result of injuries sustained in that campaign.

Ansell, George Kirkpatrick –

Son of the late Colonel Richard Ansell, Royal Marine Artillery, and Mrs. Katherine Georgiana Ansell (nee Kirkpatrick); husband of Kathleen Ansell (nee Cross, born Bolton). Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant, 6th Dragoons from the Militia 18/04/1894, promoted lieutenant and served in the South African Campaign.

Son of Mary E. Aspin, of 48, King Street, Southport, Lancashire, and the late John Aspin. Formerly of 473, Halliwell Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1916.

Bannon, Joseph –

Of 19, Medlock Street, Manchester, Lancashire. Caught aged 34 as an absentee from Kendal since 14/08/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 17/08/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Barnfield, Thomas James –

Husband of Jessie Barnfield (nee Hutchinson), of 74, Holland Street, Whit Lane, Pendleton, Lancashire, and formerly of 64, Laundry Street, Pendleton, Lancashire. Previous service as an NCO in the 18th Hussars – time expired. Died as a result of contracting tuburcular disease of the lung.
