Son of Thomas and Minnie Dowd, of Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. An old boy of Farnworth Grammar School (1933 – 35).

Doyle, John Charles –

Of 184, Belmont Road, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 314. Willows Lane, Bolton, Lancashire. 12 years service with the Royal Horse Artillery. Mobilised 08/08/1915 whilst employed since 31/07/1913 as PC169 with the Bolton County Borough Police. Returned to police duty 02/02/1919. (Bolton Archives: ABJ/22/223).
