Dolman, Robert –

Son of Joseph and Louisa Dolman (nee White), of 4, Forge Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915 as Gunner 690390, Royal Field Artillery. Died at Queen Alexandra’s Military Hospital, Millbank, London.

Makant, Angus Virtue –

Second son of John William Makant, J.P., and Florence Makant, of Gilnow Lodge, Bolton, Lancashire. Educated at Harrow and Clare College, Cambridge. B.A. (Cantab.). Well known as a cricketer and footballer. Gazetted second lieutenant 29/01/1910. Promoted Captain 23/12/1914. Shot and killed by a German sniper.

Makant, Robert Keith –

Third and youngest son of John William Makant, J.P., and Florence Makant, of Gilnow Lodge, Bolton, Lancashire. Educated at Harrow School. Gazetted second lieutenant 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment 05/10/1914. Promoted Captain 01/06/1916. Served in the 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment and the Royal Flying Corps during WWI. Wounded in the right buttock at Menin Road 20/09/1917. Captain Makant was murdered aged 26 years in Kurdistan in an ambush by Kurds whilst still on military service 18/06/1922. Captain Makant was well-known as a Cricketer.
