Eldest son of George and Alice Ann Black, of 54, Hughes Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Killed by a piece of a shell glancing off a tree and piercing his helmet and skull.

Youngest son of Robert and Elizabeth Broughton, of 97, Nelson Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 30, Bilbao Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Ex-Church Lads’ Brigade.

Clayton, John –

Son of Henry and Margaret Clayton (nee McLaughlin), of 63, John Brown Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted aged 17 at Bolton 09/04/1915 in the South Lancashire Regiment, but discharged 21/05/1915 as not likely to become an efficient soldier. Formerly 4854, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Killed at Passchendaele Ridge. Entry of death in Baptism register of St. Barnabas church, Bolton, baptised 03/10/1897.
