Son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Ellen McCann (nee Hutchinson), of 35, Lena Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of the late Mrs. McCann (died 11/05/1918 aged 32), of Jarrow, and formerly of Cooper Street, Bolton, Lancashire.

McCann, Harry –

Youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. McCann, of the Caledonian Inn, 301, Vernon Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1914. Formerly Private 3109, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Shot through the heart and instantly killed.

McCann, James –

Son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Ellen McCann (nee Hutchinson), of 35, Lena Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Previous service in Royal Field Artillery, discharged time-expired. Formerly Private 5653, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

McCarthy, Hugh –

Husband of Mary Ann McCarthy (nee Harkin), of 16, Claughton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Served at the Siege of Ladysmith in the South African Campaign with the 1st Bn., King’s Liverpool Regiment from the age of 17.

Son of John and Alice Ann McClusky, of 46, Arnold Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Killed by a shell. Surname recorded as CLUSKY and CLUSKEY in BJ&G.

McColl, John –

Son of John and Margaret McColl, of 58, Brookmount Road, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Formerly 9729, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

McConnell, Joseph –

Brother of Mr. Charles McConnell, of 528, Halliwell Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted in 1911 aged 16 and served in India until the outbreak of war. Fought at Gallipoli and wounded three times. Promoted CSM 24/04/1917. Died at 13th Casualty Clearing Station, France.

McCoy, James –

Husband of Mrs. McCoy, of 20, Weymouth Street, Halliwell, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously served eight years with the South Lancashire Regiment, including the South African Campaign. Formerly employed as a labourer at the Bolton Corporation’s Lum Street Gasworks. Reported missing since 25/09/1915 and subsequently presumed killed.

McCready, John Robert (Mac) –

Youngest son of John William and Sarah Ellen McCready, of 23, Milford Road, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 41, Kylemore Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Grammar School (1905-06). Died of wounds at Northampton Military Hospital.

Served in the South African Campaign, and wounded at Spion Kop. Four brothers serving the colours.
