Son of Michael McDonald, of 198, Willows Lane, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Lillie McDonald. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade.

Caught on multiple occasions as a deserter / absentee and appeared before Bolton Magistrates to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26). Died by drowning en-route to an Eastern theatre of war.
