Openshaw, Fred –

Son of Robert Henry and Sarah Jane Openshaw (nee Fielding); husband of Nancy Openshaw, of 15, Southern Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Reported missing after an attack west of Passchendale on 26/10/1917, subsequently presumed killed. A brother who served in the Royal Engineers had a greengrocer’s business in Cecil Street, Haulgh. Another brother also served.

Son of George and Mary Jane Openshaw, of 6, Horsa Street, Tonge Moor, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1914.

Openshaw, James –

Son of James and Betsy Openshaw, of 21, Green Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 22 as a deserter from the 2nd Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers at Bury since 11/06/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 21/06/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Ormerod, George –

Son of Walter and Elizabeth Ormerod, of 20, Cloister Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Died of septicaemia aged 27 years 08 May 1919 en-route for home aboard the Cove.

Ormerod, Robert Southern –

Son of Thomas and Emma Ormerod, of 416, Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Bertha Ormerod, of 62, Shrewsbury Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed by the Bolton Corporation Tramways. Enlisted February 1916. Gassed in October 1917.

Of 143, Weston Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915. Reported missing since 26/08/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.

Son of Mrs. L. Osborn, of 23, Norwood Grove, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted February 1916.

Outlaw, William –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Outlaw, of 50, Snowden Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted February 1915. Died from nephritis in a base hospital.

Son of Richard and Emma Owen, of 67, Trentham Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly 20152, Royal West Surrey Regiment.

Owen, Robert –

Transferred to Royal Army Veterinary Corps 26/01/1918. Home service only. Possible death aged 39 in May 1925 a Carter of 12, Hill Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and interred on 20/05/1925 in Bolton (Astley Bridge) Cemetery in grave CE. 3. Q. 90.

Owens, John Stanley –

Son of Elizabeth Owens, of 31, John Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 6591, 4th/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. On 13th September 1917 whilst in the trenches at Houplines he was victim of a gas attack and being wounded and suffering from shell shock he was taken by field ambulance to 54 Casualty Clearing Station and on to 3 Canadian General Hospital in Boulogne. Reported missing and subsequently declared to have been killed.

Oxford, John –
