Caught aged 48 as an absentee from Aldershot since 13/09/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 17/09/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26). Home Service Only. Interred in Bolton (Heaton) Cemetery 03/02/1925.

Son of John Thomas and Matilda Ann Scowcroft, of The Waterloo Hotel, Blackburn Road, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School. Succumbed to his injuries, a gunshot wound to the thigh, at the 4th General Hospital in Versailles.
