Smith, Harry Marsden –

Youngest son of Joseph and Emma Smith, of 108, Davenport Street, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of the Bolton Church Institute. Commissioned second lieutenant 24/12/1914 with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Wounded 05/07/1915 whilst attached 2nd Bn., Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Transferred to the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded and captured prisoner of war 26/02/1917, and died of wounds the following day. His wounds were described as right arm torn away, right leg shattered and a wound in the left leg.

Second son of Robert and Agnes Livingstone Smith, of 77, Davenport Street, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School and Bolton Grammar School (1902-1904). Commissioned November 1915 following membership of the Officer Training Corps at Victoria University, Manchester. Attached 15th Bn. Reported as missing since 16/07/1916 and subsequently presumed killed on that date. Two brothers also served.
