Chadwick, Albert –

Son of Richard and Mary A. Chadwick, of 9, Foundry Square, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly worked as a vendor for the Bolton Evening News. Enlisted June 1915. Previously enlisted aged 16 in September 1914 into the Royal Army Medical Corps, and discharged after 9 months training on account of his age. Re-enlisted and joined the Welsh Regiment. Reported missing since 10/07/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.

Chadwick, Joseph –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Chadwick, of 18, Skipton Street, Tonge, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Bessie Howell (formerly Chadwick), of 1366, Cannon Street East, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Was instantly killed by a shell splinter in the breast. Two brothers also served, Jack wounded and in Harpurhey Hospital, and Albert in Salonika in September 1918.

Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Chadwick, of Chorley, Lancashire; husband of Lettice Chadwick, of 707, Ringwood Street, South Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, formerly of 70, Bury New Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1916. Reported as William CHADWICK in local newspaper.

Nephew of Mrs. Susan E. Thornton, of Rock House, Halliwell, Bolton, Lancashire. Of 80, Belmont Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915. Formerly Private 4191, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Previously wounded and suffered shell-shock 23/09/1916. Death reported as 02/10/1917 in BC.

Eldest son of Annie Elizabeth Chamley, of Bridge House, Woodhouse, Milnthorpe, Westmorland, and the late Richard William Chamley. Formerly of 6, Cleggs Lane, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Formerly a police constable at Bury. Enlisted October 1914.

Chapman, Alfred Reginald Bewes –

Eldest son of Thomas Alfred Chapman, Bishop of Colchester, and Catherine Mary Chapman, of Derby House, Colchester, Essex. Formerly of The Vicarage, Bolton, Lancashire. Educated at Plymouth College, Rossall and St. John’s College, Cambridge. Gazetted, August, 1914. Promoted 02/09/1914 to Second Lieutenant. Slightly wounded in the head around 20/06/1915. Wounded again 03/08/1915.

Son of Mrs. Chappell, of Leicester Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of Cross Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1914. Died from the effects of asphyxiating gas poisoning.

Chippendale, Harold –

Son of Sarah Ann MacDeirmed (formerly Chippendale), of 15, Glen Bott Street, Halliwell, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Peter Chippendale. Wounded 09/08/1916 and lost leg through gangrene. Died at Birkenhead Hospital.

Chisnall, William –

Son of Richard and Mary Chisnall; husband of Mary Ellen Chisnall, of 405, Albany Road, Victoria Park, Perth, Western Australia, Australia. Attached 11th Field Ambulance. Wounded three time remaining at duty between 16/06/1917 and 14/09/1917. Died in Belgium from shrapnel wounds to the abdomen at 6th Australian Field Ambulance.
