Son of Charles James and Margaret Dinsdale, of 29, Eskrick Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Fought at Mons in August 1914. Was acting Company Sergeant Major when he was killed by a shell.

Husband of Mary Ann Disley (nee Frankland), of 82, Lonsdale Road, Smithills, Bolton, Lancashire. Appears as William in local newspapers. Enlisted March 1916. Formerly 36486, King’s Liverpool Regiment.

Ditchfield, Harold –

Son of Albert Ditchfield, of 19, Joseph Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 17 as an absentee from Canada Dock, Liverpool since 29/11/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 06/12/1915 to be sent back to his ship under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26). Body not recovered for burial.

Son of Thomas Alfred and Mary Ellen Dixon, of 1, Springside Cottages, Belmont, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1914. Formerly Gunner 1395, 3rd East Lancashire Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Served in Gallipoli and Egypt before going to France.

Son of John and Emma Dixon, of 121, Vernon Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 15485, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Intitally reported as missing, subsequently confirmed as wounded on 02/07/1916. Died in hospital.

Son of Francis Peter Dixon, Mayor of Carlisle, and Jane Dixon (nee Iredale), of Wood View, Carlisle, Cumberland. Promoted 02/09/1914 to Second Lieutenant. Reported in BJ&G to be well-known in Bolton.

Son of Richard Armistead Dolan, of 29, Bentinck Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire, and the late Sarah Ellen Dolan (nee Grimshaw); stepson of Mary Jane Dolan (formerly Flitcroft). Formerly employed as a shoemaker at Stockport. Enlisted September 1914.

Domhard, James –

Son of Karl (Charles) and Gesine (Jessie) Domhard, of 1, Apple Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 37, Ninehouse Lane, Bolton, Lancashire, and 131, Rishton Lane, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously enlisted at Bolton 15/09/1915 as Private 6848, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Transferred to 42nd Provision Bn 15/05/1916 until discharged as medically unfit 22/11/1916. Subsequently re-enlisted Welsh Regiment and transferred to Training Reserve Bn. Home service only on both periods of service. Died in hospital at Kinmel Park, Rhyl.
