Reported missing since 11/08/1916 and subsequently presumed killed. Three brothers also serving, Sam and Harry in France, and Jim in Salonika/Egypt (in April/August 1917).

Circumstances of death: “Whilst in charge of an evacuation party during an attack in the vicinity of Olive Trench, Vis-en-Artois, about 3 o’clock on the afternoon of August 28th 1918, he was attending a wounded man, when he was struck in the left lung by an enemy machine gun bullet and instantly killed.”
