Whittle, Thomas –

Son of James Charles and Sarah Elizabeth Whittle, of 23, Bashall Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly in the employ of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company in the wire department. Hit in the head and back by shrapnel and killed instantly. Brother Richard (Dick) served in France.

Whittle, Thomas Lee –

Husband of Mary Whittle (nee Greenwood), of 96. Blackburn Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously served in the 27th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers. Enlisted as 4204, 3rd Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Rregiment. Home service and Gibraltar only. Died aged 64 20/09/1922 and interred at Bolton (Astley Bridge) Cemetery 23/09/1922.

Whitworth, James –

Son of Alfred and Emma Whitworth (nee Houlder), of 3, Osborne Grove, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 89, Elgin Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. Killed by a sniper. His brother Alfred also served in the Border Regiment.

Whitworth, William –

Son of Mrs. Betsy Whitworth, of 81, Normanby Street, Morris Green Lane, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 22, Eustace Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Service number recorded as 30200 on SDGW. One of five men killed instantly when a shell fell directly in the trench.

Whitworth, Cecil Thompson –

Son of Mrs. M. J. and the late Mr. T. Whitworth, of 41, Abbotsford Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1914. Formerly 17914, Border Regiment. Died at the 7th Canadian General Hospital, Le Treport, from wounds received on 03/07/1916.
