Hadfield, James –

Son of Robert and Nancy Hadfield, of 230, St. Helens Road, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Hadfield (nee Warbrick), of 17, Thorn Street, Bolton, Lancashire. One of 48 St. John Ambulance men who left Bolton for Tipperary on 29/11/1915. One of the survivors of the Arcadian, torpedoed on 15/04/1918. Died of Typhus in Jerusalem. Five brothers also served.

Son of Robert and Nancy Hadfield, of 230, St. Helens Road, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Reported missing since 11/04/1917 and subequently presumed killed. Youngest of six soldier brothers.

Hagan, John William –

Son of James and Mary Hagan, of 10, Fletcher Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted March 1916. Died from wounds to the head and arm.

Husband of Mrs. Hailwood, of 101, Fletcher Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 34 as an absentee from Hull since 25/01/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 09/02/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25).

Son of Elizabeth Haley, of 12, Holt Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late William Haley. Died of wounds at No.10 Casualty Clearing Station.

Hall, Frank –

Son of Joseph and Mary Alice Hall, of 167, Cawdor Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire, and later of 1, Blackshaw Lane, Deane Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 38330, Cheshire Regiment. Died from shrapnel wounds to the right hand and leg. Memorial in Great Lever (St. Michael) Churchyard.

Of 8, Maxwell Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 20 as an absentee from France since 04/12/1917 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 13/12/1917 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/28). NOTE:- A duplicate entry appears in the Bolton County Borough Roll of Honour under the 8th Bn., King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.
