Previously a tram driver on the Brownlow Fold route, he went to the front on 01/10/1916, being wounded on 01/12/1917 necessitating amputation of the right arm. His name is on the Roll of Honour at St. Mark’s Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher. Left a wife and child at 28, Rishton Lane, Bolton, Lancashire.
