Hill, Sidney –

Son of John and Margaret Anna Hill, of 136, Eskrick Street, Halliwell, Bolton, Lancashire. Fought at Gallipoli, and wounded 01/07/1916 at The Somme. Died from a gunshot wound penetrating the liver. Second of two sons to be killed. Incorrectly recorded as Rifle Brigade. on the Bolton County Borough Roll of Honour.

Son of Isaac and Mary Hill, of Bolton, Lancashire. Died as a result of a cerebral abcess. Recorded as 42nd (Provisional) Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, on SDGW. Home service only.

Hilton, Albert –

Son of Matthew and Margaret Hilton, of Bolton, Lancashire. Confectionery shopkeeper of 3, St. Helens Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 45, Wynne Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Enlisted June 1915. Served at the Wharnecliffe Military Hospital, and a time in Sicily. Killed instantaneously by a shell while attending wounded at a dressing station.

Brother of Mrs. Wilson (nee Hilton), of 10, Centre Street, Brownlow Fold, Bolton, Lancashire. Reported missing July 1916 but turned up with minor wounds. Previous service in the South African Campaign.

Son of the late Richard and Ann Hilton; husband of the late Annie Hilton, of 9, High Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously served in the South African Campaign with the Lancashire Fusiliers. Enlisted September 1914. Previously wounded by shrapnel in the leg and back in October 1916.

Husband of Mrs. Hilton, of 11, Crowther Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed at Brackley Colliery, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1914. Reported missing since July 1916 and subsequently presumed killed.

Hilton, Walter –

Son of James and Mary Ann Hilton, of Blackburn Road, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Mary Alice Hilton, of 26, Wike Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 9967, 3rd Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers. Wounded in the arm at the Dardanelles on 14/05/1915. Invalided to Crumpsall Hospital with enteric fever from November 1915 to April 1916. Killed by a shell. One of five soldier brothers, and the first to fall.

Hinchcliffe, Arthur –
