NOTE:- Served as John HOLT. Son of William Holden, of 109, Ellesmere Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Resided at 76, Parliament Street, Bolton, Lancashire on enlistment. Formerly employed at Brackley Colliery, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Enlisted 05/08/1914 as Private 2585, 3rd Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment and discharged as physically unfit (flat feet) on 14/12/1914. Re-enlisted as John Holt (Reported as King’s Royal Rifle Corps) from 27, Parliament Street, Bolton, Lancashire in December 1914. Served in King’s Liverpool Regiment subsequently. Unity Church.

Holland, Edward Francis –

Husband of Lily Holland (nee Humphries), of 26, Beckett Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 8, Pedder Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously Driver 1289, 19th Battery, Royal Field Artillery, enlisted 01/08/1914, discharged medically unfit 26/03/1915. Died aged 28 years and interred 27/02/1919.

Holland, Ernest –

Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Holland, of 34, South View, Belmont, Lancashire; husband of Mary Hannah Holland, of 30, Maxwell Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1914. Seriously wounded in the chest by a shell on 21/03/1918 at Doullens. One of six brothers serving.

Son of Thomas Henry Holland, of 36, Lower Terrace, Mill Hill, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Elizabeth Holland (nee Batty). Formerly Private 3317, 2nd/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Reported missing since 30/11/1917, and subsequently presumed killed on that date.

Holloway, James –

Son of H. Holloway, of 16, Heath Lane, Firs Lane, Leigh, Lancashire. Resided at 12, Vermont Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Police Constable 188 of the Bolton County Borough Police from April 1913 until enlistment for military service. (Bolton Archives: ABJ/22/213). Hospitalised with serious gunshot wounds to the back and shoulders September 1917.

Recorded twice in Bolton Roll of Honour as James HOLME and as James HULME, reported as HOLME in BJ&G and CWGC and as HULME on SDGW and Medal Card. Also commemorated on the CWGC Memorial at Le Touret, Pas de Calais, France on Panel 27 and 28 as James HULME. Reported as HOLMES in BJ&G.
