Son of Joseph and Hannah Ashbridge Bell, of 79, Hough Lane, Eagley, Turton, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. NOTE: Served as Thomas Bell.

Bentley, Harry –

Son of Frederick and Elizabeth E. Bentley, of Egerton, Turton, Lancashire; husband of Alice Bentley, of 19, Water Street, Egerton, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly employed by Messrs. Tillotson and Son, Ltd., as a despatch clerk. Killed by a shell bursting on his dugout at Longueval.

Booth, John –

Son of Frederick and Mary Elizabeth Booth, of 106, Blackburn Road, Egerton, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly 22825, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Previously wounded on the Somme 01/07/1916. Died at York Military Hospital of wounds received at Ypres 05/08/1917.

Cooper, Sam –

Son of Mrs. Hannah Cooper, of 27, Arnold Road, Dunscar, Bolton, Lancashire. Reported missing 11/04/1917 and subsequently presumed killed. Brother Sidney serving in France.

Croft, James –

Son of James and Annie Croft, of Cooper’s Farm, Egerton, Turton, Lancashire.

Crook, Herbert –

Son of Enoch and Mary Crook, of 17, Mill Street, Dunscar, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly 2nd Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers. Mistakenly reported as having been killed in December 1914, subsequently confirmed alive. Wounded several times. Assisted the wounded Fusilier hero, Private Lynn (mentioned in Sir John French’s despatch) to the field dressing station after he had been gassed.

Husband of Mrs. Greenbank, of 191, Blackburn Road, Egerton, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly a postman in Bromley Cross. Enlisted March 1916. Formerly 23630, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded in the right thigh in August 1916.

Second son of Colonel Ernest William Greg, C.B., and Marian Greg, of Norcliffe Hall, Styal, Cheshire. Formerly of Higher Dunscar House, Egerton, Turton, Lancashire. Educated at Rugby School and received his commission in the 4th Reserve Bn., Cheshire Regiment, and was posted to the 11th Bn. on arrival in France.

Son of John and Esther Hall; husband of Annie Hall (nee Brooks), of 979, Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. Reported missing since 26/08/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.
