Son of Frederick and Elizabeth E. Bentley, of Egerton, Turton, Lancashire; husband of Alice Bentley, of 19, Water Street, Egerton, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly employed by Messrs. Tillotson and Son, Ltd., as a despatch clerk. Killed by a shell bursting on his dugout at Longueval.

Son of Frederick and Mary Elizabeth Booth, of 106, Blackburn Road, Egerton, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly 22825, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Previously wounded on the Somme 01/07/1916. Died at York Military Hospital of wounds received at Ypres 05/08/1917.

Son of Mrs. Hannah Cooper, of 27, Arnold Road, Dunscar, Bolton, Lancashire. Reported missing 11/04/1917 and subsequently presumed killed. Brother Sidney serving in France.

Crook, Herbert –

Son of Enoch and Mary Crook, of 17, Mill Street, Dunscar, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly 2nd Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers. Mistakenly reported as having been killed in December 1914, subsequently confirmed alive. Wounded several times. Assisted the wounded Fusilier hero, Private Lynn (mentioned in Sir John French’s despatch) to the field dressing station after he had been gassed.

Educated at Rugby School and received his commission in the 4th Reserve Bn., Cheshire Regiment, and was posted to the 11th Bn. on arrival in France.
