Served 17 years with the Lancashire Fusiliers and was employed at the Army Ordnance Corps stores at Lathom, near Ormskirk. Was a reservist activated at the outbreak of war.

Son of late Elizabeth Ann Horrocks (nee Mann), and stepson of John Horrocks, of 12, Crompton Street, Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Mary Ellen Mann (nee Fletcher), of 6, Royley Row, Kearsley, Lancashire. Previously served as Corporal 3182, Lancashire Fusiliers, in the South African Campaign, having enlisted 06/05/1897 at Bury, Lancashire, and discharged 05/05/1903 as time-expired. Wounded through mustard gas 1917. Joined Royal Flying Corps 11/01/1918 and transferred to Royal Air Force on formation 01/04/1918.
