Son of John Ryan, of 13, Cross Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Emigrated to Canada about 1911. Reported missing and subsequently confirmed wounded and prisoner of war at Limburg. Died in hospital in Coblenz, Germany. St. Gregory’s R.C. Church, Farnworth.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ryder, of 79, Crompton Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Previously employed by the Clifton and Kearsleuy Coal Company. Enlisted November 1914. Formerly Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Died in a Casualty Clearing Station in France.

Son of Mrs. Ellen Schofield; husband of Daisy Schofield, of 7, Rose Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1914.

Scott, Frank –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Scott, and brother of John Charles Scott, of 127, St. James Street, New Bury, Farnworth, Lancashire.

Scott, James Samuel –

Son of Mr. Scott, of 137, Brackley Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Reported missing and subsequently presumed killed. One of three brothers serving.

Scott, John Charles –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Scott, of 127, St. James Street, New Bury, Farnworth, Lancashire. Service number recorded as 41787 on Medal Card, 41877 on SDGW and 41878 on CWGC. Died from septic poisoning in hospital at Edinburgh following amputation of his wounded lef, and interred in Farnworth Cemetery.

Seddon, Alfred Hope –

Son of Alfred Hope Seddon and Elizabeth Seddon, of 26, Bolton Road, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1917. Reported missing and subsequently presumed killed. Memorial in Farnworth Cemetery.

Son of William Seddon, of 26, Kildare Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Of 18, Park Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Died at King George’s Hospital, London from wounds sustained on 07/09/1916.

Seddon, Frank –

Son of John and Mary Seddon, of 92, Market Street, Stoneclough, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School. Enlisted December 1915. Wounded in the head and shoulder and died at a casualty clearing station.

Son of John and Lucy Annie Seddon, of 140, Peel Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1916. Died of wounds at the 48th Clearing Station, France.

Seddon, Wilfred –

Settle, Robert Jackson –

Son of Joseph and Elizabeth Settle, of 139, Lorne Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Alice Settle, of 19, Green Lane, Kearsley, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915. Formerly XIX Platoon, “E” Company, 20th Bn., Manchester Regiment. Wounded in the shoulder July 1916.

Settle, William Robert –

Eldest son of Robert and Maria Rachel Settle, of 4, Harper Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire, and formerly of 19, Clifton Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly employed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company. Served on HMS Africa and HMS Indomitable, including the Battle of Jutland.

Shackleton, Albert –

Son of Herbert and Ann Shackleton; husband of Annie M. Shackleton of 59, Campbell Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire; later of 89, Lorne Street, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Severely crushed when buried in a trench at Gallipoli, treated at hospitals in Cairo, Birmingham and Bolton. Developed dysentery and complications and died at Bolton Royal Infirmary. Interred in Farnworth Cemetery 06/03/1916.
