Enlisted September 1914. Wounded in the knee requiring hospitalisation in Yorkshire following treatment in France.

Employed in the secretary’s department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company at Hunt’s Bank, Manchester prior to enlistment. Formerly 21st Bn., Royal Fusiliers. Seved in France and Italy, and had been recommended for a commission shortly before his death. Memorial in Farnworth (St. James) Churchyard.
