Son of Mr. and Mrs. Holt, of 19, Winter Street, Horwich, Lancashire; husband of Catherine Holt, of 2, Willow Bank, John Street, Penicuik, Midlothian, and formerly of 59, Curtis Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Enlisted 1914. Died from wounds in Germany two days after being taken prisoner of war.

Son of Mrs. Holt, of 87, Victoria Road, Horwich, Lancashire. Enlisted June 1916. Reported wounded and missing since 15/11/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.

Hopley, Edward –

Son of Ferdinand David and Kate Hopley, of 3, Tredgold Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed at Horwich Loco Works and later an apprentice butcher. Formerly Acting Corporal S/4/042253, Royal Army Service Corps.

Hornby, Harry –

Third son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hornby, of 3, Top-o’th’-Wallsuches, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly a clerk at the Horwich Loco Works. Enlisted September 1914. Reported wounded by gunshot above the knee and missing, and subsequently presumed killed.

Hornby, Wilson –

Son of John and Margery Hornby, of 326, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed at the Great Central Railway Company’s Loco Works in Gorton, having served his apprenticeship at Horwich Loco Works. His brother Gordon also fell.

Hornby, Gordon –

Son of John and Marjorie Hornby, of 326, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Lancashire; husband of Christina Marriott (formerly Hornby), of 66, Laughton Avenue, Crewe, Cheshire, formerly of Smeaton Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1914. His brother Wilson also fell.

Of 6, Brunel Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed at Horwich Loco Works. Wounded 30/09/1915.

Hough, Ralph –

Son of Ralph Hough, of 13, Park Road, Wigan, Lancashire. An old boy of Rivington and Blackrod Grammar School.

Son of Mr. J. Hulme, of 93, Lee Lane, Horwich, Lancashire. Reported missing since 14/09/1916 and subsequently presumed killed.

Son of Mr. J. Hulme, of 93, Lee Lane, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed as a coppersmith at Horwich Loco Works. Enlisted September 1914. Reported missing 14/09/1916.

Hulme, William –

Son of W. H. and A. Hulme; husband of Hannah Sarah Hulme (nee McMahon), of 515, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Lancashire. Died from pneumonia following influenza.

Hunter, James –

Son of James and Alice Hunter, of 6, Buchanan Street, Chorley, Lancashire. Formerly 39475, East Lancashire Regiment. Service number incorrectly recorded as 49268 on SDGW.
