Son of William and Alice Hilton, of 8, Hilton Lane, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1914 aged 17 and served in the Dardanelles with the 6th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Commissioned. Reported 13/01/1918 as missing since 26/11/1917 and subsequently presumed killed.
