Son of Simeon and Ann Settle, of 33, Stopes Road, Little Lever, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1915 in the Welsh Regiment. Enlisted 31/05/1915 as Private 5082, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, and subsequently transferred to King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.
