Edwards, George –

Husband of Gertrude Edwards, of Brook Lea, Mellor, Derbyshire. George had been promoted to Sergeant on the 20/03/1915 but at his own request reverted back to a Private in 1917. He suffered a wound to his head on 21/04/1917. Prior to the war George had worked as a clerk and lived with his wife Gertrude (nee Mayerscough) at 165 Regent Road, Salford, Lancashire. They had a daughter, Joan, in 1916. After George’s death Gertrude moved from Salford to live at Brook Lea, Mellor, Derbyshire.

Elliott, John Fred –

Son of George and Annie Elliott, of 11, Regent Square, Salford, Lancashire. Formerly 68040, King’s Liverpool Regiment.

Elliott, Arthur –

Son of George and Annie Elliott, of 11, Regent Square, Salford, Lancashire. Formerly 63687, Manchester Regiment.

Ennion, Walter Everall –

Son of Thomas Frederick and Clara Ennion, Regent Hotel, Regent Road, Salford, Lancashire. Walter worked as a lorry driver before he enlisted aged 24. He lived with his sister Gertrude Richardson at 32 Vere Street, Salford, Lancashire. Walter had four brothers Tom, Fred, Harry and Charles and two sisters Annie and Gertrude. Walter was burnt to death when a candle was knocked over in his tent while he was asleep.

Evans, Samuel –

Samuel was a reservist and was mobilised with the Border Regiment. at Carlisle on 07/08/1914 and went to France 25/11/1914 where he was injured and returned to the South of England for treatment. He quickly recovered and left Shoeburyness on the 26/05/1915 heading for the Dardanelles and had been in the trenches there for about a month when he met his death. Samuel had worked as a bricklayers labourer for Salford Corporation prior to the war and lived at 168 Tatton Street, Salford, Lancashire.

Husband of Alice Cecilia Evans, of 79, Oxford Street, Salford, Lancashire. Formerly 29731, 14th Bn., Manchester Regiment; 3825, 2nd/1st Yorkshire Hussars; and 2099, Army Cyclist Corps.

Evans, Herbert –

Of 39, Regent Square, Salford, Lancashire. Formerly 406125, King’s Liverpool Regiment.

Eyres, Samuel –

Son of Samuel and Alice Ayres, of Droylsden, Lancashire; husband of Elizabeth Hawkyard (formerly Ayres), of 101, Hyde Road, West Gorton, Lancashire.

Faraday, George –

Son of Alfred and Francis Faraday of Salford, Lancashire. Formerly Private 2699, Lancashire Fusiliers.
