Son of Mary Jane Charnock, of 2, Cemetery Road, Tonge, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 1749, 3rd East Lancashire Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Wounded when a German aeroplane dropped a bomb on a casualty clearing station in August 1916. Gunshot wound to right chest.

Formerly Corporal 5239, 4th/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment; formerly Lance Sergeant 241521, 4th/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Promoted from Lance Corporal to Corporal 16/08/1915. Commissioned 30/01/1918, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Killed by a shell.
