Ashton, Henry –

Only son of Henry and Ellen Ashton, of 55, Gibbon Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 20, Pike Road, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Formerly employed for 14 years on the clerical staff of the Corporation Gas Offices. Died of dysentery at Salonika.

Aspinall, John William –

Son of John and Emma Aspinall, of 56, Venture Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly a teacher at Slaterfield Wesleyan Church. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Died from the effects of gas poisoning.

Barnes, Charles Edwin –

Son of Hannah Barnes, of 8, Victoria Avenue, Perry Street, Hull, Yorkshire. Originally from Hull, Yorkshire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Died from blood poisoning and pneumonia at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary following a cut finger.

Beardsworth, Arthur –

Son of John William Beardsworth and Clara Beardsworth (nee Greenwood), of 35, Darley Street, Brownlow Fold, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Attached to the Hood Bn.

Bennett, Albert –

Only son of Frank and Anna Bennett, of 17, Knowsley Grove, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed at Horwich Loco Works. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade.

Cooper, Charles Gordon –

Son of James and E. Cooper, of 62, Essingdon Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Formerly in the service of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company, at Bolton, Lancashire.

Dewhurst, George –

Son of Mr. W. A. and Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Dewhurst, of 19, Dale Street, Horwich, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade.

Dover, Robert –

Son of the late Robert and Mary Dover, of 7, Larchwood Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Attached 1st Field Ambulance, Royal Marine Medical Unit. Drowned at Alexandria, Egypt.

Foster, William –

Son of Robert and Martha Foster, of 70, Yates Street, Tonge Moor, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 57, Cross Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Enlisted August 1915. Died at the Fulham Military Hospital, Hampstead, London.

Fowler, Frederick James –

Son of Mrs. Sarah Ann Fowler, of 57, Wordsworth Street, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Elizabeth Ellen Fowler, of Francis Street, Yarraville, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Reported missing from the hospital ship Arcadian and believed drowned from 15/04/1917 and subsequently declared to have died on that date.

Gomersall, Charles –

Son of Ellen Gomersall, of 9, Palm Street, Oldham, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade.

Gradwell, William –

Son of Mary Jane Gradwell, of 271, Settle Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late James Gradwell, and formerly of 68, Higher Swan Lane, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Enlisted June 1915.

Greenhalgh, Richard –

Youngest son of Band-Sergeant Robert Edward Greenhalgh, who served 26 years in the old Bolton Volunteers, the 9th Lancashire Volunteer Artillery, and Elizabeth Greenhalgh, of 15, Range Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 35, Ribblesdale Road, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Great Lever Division of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Died in the Malta Hospital.

Hadfield, James –

Son of Robert and Nancy Hadfield, of 230, St. Helens Road, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Mrs. Hadfield (nee Warbrick), of 17, Thorn Street, Bolton, Lancashire. One of 48 St. John Ambulance men who left Bolton for Tipperary on 29/11/1915. One of the survivors of the Arcadian, torpedoed on 15/04/1918. Died of Typhus in Jerusalem. Five brothers also served.

Heyes, John –

Husband of Mary Heyes, of 49, Grasmere Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade.

Hilton, Albert –

Son of Matthew and Margaret Hilton, of Bolton, Lancashire. Confectionery shopkeeper of 3, St. Helens Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 45, Wynne Street, Bolton, Lancashire. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Enlisted June 1915. Served at the Wharnecliffe Military Hospital, and a time in Sicily. Killed instantaneously by a shell while attending wounded at a dressing station.
