Eldest son of the late Robert and Margaret Mann, of 333, Derby Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 24, Peabody Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1914. Brother Harry Mann serving on a minesweeper in the Royal Navy, c/o 6 Mess, HMS Wishart.

Son of Andrew and Nancy Jane McFarland (nee Fogg); husband of Elizabeth Alice McFarland, of 3, Sunninghill Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 3447, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded 22/09/1917 by gunshot to the shoulder. Often recorded as McFARLANE.
