Son of Frederick and Elizabeth E. Bentley, of Egerton, Turton, Lancashire; husband of Alice Bentley, of 19, Water Street, Egerton, Turton, Lancashire. Formerly employed by Messrs. Tillotson and Son, Ltd., as a despatch clerk. Killed by a shell bursting on his dugout at Longueval.

Second son of Reuben Brotherton, of 10, Hastings Road, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 31, Queensgate, Bolton, Lancashire. An old boy of Bolton Municipal Secondary School. Previously in the employ of Messrs. Tillotson and Son, Ltd. Formerly Sergeant 45574, Motor Machine Gun Brigade., Canadian Machine Gun Corps. Commissioned 1916. During the operations in the vicinity of Passchendale, on the night of 29/10/1917, this officer was leading his Battery to a new position, when he was instantly killed by enemy shell fire. Step-brother of Tom Lever.

Youngest son of Mark Dunion, former Police Sergeant at Horwich, and also of the Bolton Borough Police, and the late Agnes Dunion, of 9, Bute Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 19, Grafton Street, Bolton. Formerly employed by the BJ&G.
Kershaw, Paul –
Son of the late Paul and Ruth Kershaw, of 14, View Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed in the machine room at Messrs. Tillotson and Son, Ltd. A member of the Bolton Corps of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Enlisted August 1915. Died at Gosport (Haslar) Hospital from an attack of pneumonia. Memorial on family grave in Edgworth Congregational Churchyard.

Son of Frederick and Elizabeth Kirkman; husband of Alice Kirkman, of 24, Cellini Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 2792, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Received rifle grenade wounds in the neck and arm on 28/07/1915.

Son of Arthur Edward and Eliza Rippin, of 15, Chapel Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously employed as a member of the reporting staff of the Bolton Evening News & Bolton Journal and Guardian. Enlisted September 1914. Formerly Lance Corporal 2357, 1st/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded 20/06/1915 by gunshot in the right leg. Commissioned 20/12/1915. Died from pneumonia at Prees Heath Military Hospital, Whitchurch. Recorded as 4th Bn. on SDGW.
Robbie, Robert Nelson –
Son of Robert Nelson Robbie and Isabella Robbie, of 92, Brighton Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Muriel Robbie, of 94, Brighton Avenue, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly employed in the composing room of the Bolton Evening News (Tillotson’). Also reported as “Neil Robbie”. His only brother was wounded in the evacuation of Gallipoli.
