Formerly employed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company as a goods department clerk at Oldham Road, Manchester. Enlisted February 1917. Posted missing 06/05/1918 and subsequently presumed killed when “evidently drowned with a dozen or more other men between Ayr and Belfast.” Reported as Gunner in the F&WJ. Body not recovered for burial.
