Son of William and Margaret Hunter (nee Southerwood), of 15, Matthew Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 17088, 3rd and 1st Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded in October 1915 in France and treated at Wharncliffe Hospital, Sheffield. Also treated for shrapnel fragments at Cliff Military Hospital, Felixstowe in March 1916.
