Evans, Robert –

Son of George C. and Alice E?vans, of 182, Fletcher Street, Bolton, Lancashire.

Evans, Samuel –

Samuel was a reservist and was mobilised with the Border Regiment. at Carlisle on 07/08/1914 and went to France 25/11/1914 where he was injured and returned to the South of England for treatment. He quickly recovered and left Shoeburyness on the 26/05/1915 heading for the Dardanelles and had been in the trenches there for about a month when he met his death. Samuel had worked as a bricklayers labourer for Salford Corporation prior to the war and lived at 168 Tatton Street, Salford, Lancashire.

Fairhurst, William James –

Son of Joseph and Sarah Fairhurst, of 328, Wigan Road, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Formerly 15337, King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Had his right leg blown off through the accidental bursting of a shell on 21/10/1916, and died at the 13th General Hospital, Boulogne.

Farnworth, Harold –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Farnworth, of 4, The Stocks, Horwich, Lancashire. An old boy of the Lostock Industrial School, Lostock, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted September 1915. Wounded and in The Lake Military Hospital, Ashton-under-Lyne.

Farnworth, Joseph –

Son of James and Jane Farnworth (nee Healey), of 390, Ordsall Lane, Salford, Lancashire, and formerly of 24, Auburn Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 3rd Bn., Border Regiment. Reported missing since 21/08/1915 and subsequently presumed killed.

Farnworth, Charles –

Husband of Lucy Farnworth (nee Aston), of 1, Colliers Yard, Green Lane, Ince, Lancashire. Previously enlisted at Wigan 31/08/1914 into the 7th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment and discharged as not likely to become an efficient soldier 06/10/1914. Re-enlisted and discharged again.

Farrell, Harold –

Son of Mrs. Mary Jane Farrell, of 299, Fir Street, Seedley, Salford, Lancashire.

Finan, Thomas –

Of 3, Warrington Road, Higher Ince, Wigan, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915.

Finch, John Harold –

Brother of Jane Smith, of 47, Catherine Street East, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed at the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company’s Horwich Loco Works. Reported missing since 10/07/1917 and subsequently confirmed killed. NOTE: Birth registered as John Harold, but all other records simply read as Harold.

Fisher, Joseph –

Son of John and Ann Fisher, of Atherton, Lancashire; husband of Mary Ellen Fisher (nee Gill), of 35, Hollins Road, Middle Hulton, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly of 6, Gas Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Previously Private 11192, 6th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Caught aged 28 as a deserter from Tidsworth since 13/10/1914 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 24/10/1914 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25). Re-enlisted December 1914. Caught aged 29 as an absentee from The Castle, Carlisle since 06/01/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 08/01/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/25). Formerly well known locally as a wrestler and weight lifter.
