Sweet, John Thomas –

Son of John Zachariah and Alice H. Sweet, of Railway Street, Radcliffe, Lancashire (CWGC); brother of Joseph Edward Sweet, of 25, Scott Street, Ringley, Lancashire (F&WJ). Father’s name John Zachariah Sweet on enlistment papers. Resident of 43, Green Lane, Radcliffe, Lancashire. Died in a French hospital from wounds received on 10/09/1915.

Of 136, Main Street, Billinge, Lancashire. Caught aged 35 as an absentee from Moor Lane Camp, Crosby appearing before Bolton Magistrates 28/05/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/29).

Caught multiple times aged 24 as a deserter / absentee from 3rd Bn. at Shoeburyness, and from the 1st Bn. at Barrow appearing before Bolton Magistrates to be sent back his unit under escort.
