Of 2, Nebraska Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and formrely of 7, Moss Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 21 as an absentee from Birkenhead since 09/08/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 23/08/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Son of John and Mary Burgon, of 30, Church End, Heaton Norris, Stockport, Cheshire. Formerly Private 2589, Cheshire Yeomanry.

Butler, Edward –

An old boy of St. Joseph’s School. Enlisted 1914. Formerly 016315, Royal Army Service Corps, and served as an army baker.

Butterworth, Charles Aquilla –

Husband of Eliza Butterworth, of 9, Alfred Street, Walkden, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. Formerly 19316, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Previously reported as wounded and missing, subsequently confirmed died of wounds.

Son of the late James Walter Calvert and of Emma Calvert, of 5, Goldsmith Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Welsh Regiment.

Carr, Frank –

Of 33, Holden Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 24 as an absentee from Knowsley Park, Prescot appearing before Bolton Magistrates 26/09/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/29). Had been captured on 03/03/1917 as prisoner of war and escaped from Germany, but failed to report his return at Knowsley Park.

Carr, Frank –

Of 68, Hacken Lane, Darcy Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught as an absentee from 3rd Bn., Cheshire Regiment at Birkenhead since 01/06/1916 and from 10th Bn., at Chester since 08/12/1916. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates 08/06/1916 and 11/12/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/27).

Carrier, William Thomas –

Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Matilda Carrier, of Spanlding, Lincolnshire; nephew of Mrs. Wilson, of 41, Folds Road, Ringley, Lancashire, with whom he resided. Enlisted September 1914. Formerly Driver T1/3893, Army Service Corps. Reported missing and confirmed prisoner of war and wounded in the legs.
