Of 5, Back Lane, St. George’s Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Summonsed whilst stationed at Heaton Park as defendant in a Bastardy case brought before Bolton Magistrates by Maud Ellen Needham of 194, Kay Street, Bolton, Lancashire, and later of 391, Lytham Road, Blackpool, Lancashire, for her illigitimate child born 29/01/1917. Nowell, Esmund –

Son of Alice Nowell (nee Snape), of Withnell, Lancashire, and the late Doctor Thomas Nowell. Wounded resulting in the loss of his right hand in the war. Took over a newsagents’ business in Bromley Cross when the previous owner joined up.
