Husband of Mrs. Destopeleir, of 13, Olive Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. For five years prior to the outbreak of war had resided in Bolton. Formerly employed as a mechanic. He had been at the front 14 months, and was killed at Damfevin, Meurthe-et-Moselle.

Destoppeleir, Martin – Sapper (Private)

Husband of Mrs. Destoppeleir, of 13, Olive Street, Daubhill, Bolton, Lancashire. “Bolton Mechanic in French Army Killed – News has been received by his wife at 13, Olive Street, that Sapper Martin Destoppeleir was been killed in action. Sapper Destoppeleir was a Frenchman, who for five years prior to the outbreak of war had resided in Bolton. He was first employed as a mechanic at St. Paul’s Worsted Mill, Daubhill, but later worked at Messrs. Dobson and Barlow’s and Messrs. Threlfall’s. He had been at the front 14 months, and was killed on October 17th, 1915, at Damfevin, Meurthe-et-Moselle. He was in the 4th Engineers of the French Army, was 38 years of age, and was well-known and highly respected in the Daubhill district, where much sympathy is felt for his widow.” (BJ&G 26.11.15)
