Son of Alfred Hope Seddon and Elizabeth Seddon, of 26, Bolton Road, Moses Gate, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1917. Reported missing and subsequently presumed killed. Memorial in Farnworth Cemetery.

Seddon, Herbert –

Son of John and Susannah Seddon, of 28, Ringley Old Brow, Stoneclough, Lancashire; husband of Maggie Seddon (nee Bradburn), of 37, Manchester Road West, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Enlisted April 1917. Wounded in the abdomen by a machine-gun bullet 09/08/1918. Reported as Harold in F&WJ. His nephew Ernest Seddon, of Swinton, also fell.

Senior, Frederick Weaver –

Died in hospital at Tidworth from pneumonia following influenza. Service number recorded as 4069 on SDGW, and as 4969 on CWGC.

Second son of the late Herbert Shepherd-Cross, M.P., and of Lucy Mary Shepherd-Cross (nee Birley); husband of Meta Shepherd-Cross (nee Grundy), of Gate Helmsley House, York, Yorkshire. Attached 197th Company, Machine Gun Corps.

Son of the late Herbert Shepherd-Cross, M.P., and of Lucy Mary Shepherd-Cross (nee Birley); husband of Edith Constance Shepherd-Cross (nee Fair).

Sinker, William –

Son of George and Catherine Sinker, of 74, Dickinson Street West, Horwich, Lancashire, formerly of Stocks Farm, Horwich, Lancashire. Born 1889, Rivington, Lancashire. Enlisted February 1915. Posted missing since 01/12/1917 and subsequently presumed killed.

Slack, Ernest –

Son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Alice Slack, of 51, Rushey Fold Lane, Bolton, Lancashire. Captured 23/08/1914 and prisoner of war in Germany.

Smalley, Tom –

Son of Thomas Smalley, of Bolton, Lancashire. Service number recorded as 4131 on CWGC. This casualty has recently been accepted for commemoration by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Stephens, James –

Son-in-Law of Mrs. Reynolds, of Hey Cottage, Ainsworth, Lancashire. Previously served 12 years in the Royal Navy.

Of 141, Darley Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. A despatch rider and signaller with 12 years service, most in India. Re-enlisted September 1914. St. Gregory’s R.C. Church, Farnworth.

Husband of Alice Tattersall, of Higher Darcy Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Recorded as William Tattersall on Medal Card. Reported as L. S. Tattersall in BC.
