Son of Mrs. Crook, of 64, Lonsdale Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Of 27, Sunlight Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted March 1915 aged 17. Killed by a shell.

Cuppello, Joseph –

Son of Edward and Jane Cuppello, of 50, Botany Lane, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, and formerly of 48, Haigh Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire. Formerly Sherwood Foresters. Enlisted January 1915.

Dale, Harold –

Of 90, Oak Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted October 1915.

Daniels, Elijah –

Son of Elijah and Ann Jane Daniels. Prior to the war Elijah lived with his wife Ada (Atkinson) at 41 Oxford Street, Salford, Lancashire and had worked at Lloyd’s Packing Warehouse as a case maker. The second-lieutenant of Elijah’s Bn. writes to Mrs Daniels: “After the gallant and dashing charge of the Manchesters (sic) on March 2, your husband, Private Daniels, failed to answer the roll call and he was listed as missing, and as he failed day after day to put in an appearance he has now been reported as killed” “I hope you will make the best of it, for your husband died doing his duty as a soldier.”

Davenport, Francis Evan –

Husband of Mrs. Davenport, of Nasmyth Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1914. Formerly employed in the boiler shop of Horwich Loco Works.

Davenport, Arthur –

Son of John and Mary Ann Davenport, of 15, Chorley New Road, Horwich, Lancashire. Died from dysentery. Sometimes recorded as DEVONPORT in BJ&G.

Son of William and Mary Jane Davies; husband of Edith Davies (nee Coupe), of 453, Blackburn Road, Edgworth, Lancashire. Reported missing and subsequently as captured prisoner of war. Died from wounds at Elincourt Clearing Station, Heerenberg, Holland.

Nephew of Mrs. Ward, of 72, Harriet Street, Walkden, Lancashire. Formerly employed at the Clifton Chloride Company. Formerly Private 48463, Lancashire Fusiliers. Reported missing and subsequently presumed killed. Reported as King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in F&WJ.

Dawson, Arthur –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dawson, of Park Road, Adlington, Lancashire. Enlisted January 1915. Reported missing, subsequently confirmed wounded in the shoulder, head and leg, and taken prisoner of war in Germany.
