Younger son of Mrs. Duckworth, of 65, Snowden Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.

Dunn, Joseph –

Husband of Mrs. Dunn, of 30, Lupton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, one of the 300 of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment who volunteered to reinforce the King’s Own Royal Lancashire Regiment in October 1915. Reported missing since 08/08/1916, and later presumed to have died on that date.

Eardley, George Arthur –

Husband of Amy Eardley, of 263, Monton Road, Monton Green, Eccles, Lancashire. Attached 2nd/5th Bn., King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.

Eckersley, Ernest –

Son of the late William and Catherine Eckersley, formerly of 8, Balshaw Street, Bolton, Lancashire; husband of Eliza Eckersley (nee Ingham), of 43, Grant Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Died of Cholera at Baghdad, Mesopotamia.

Edwards, Frank –

Son of Henry Edwards. 19 years’ service. Served in the South African Campaign. Worked for Salford Corporation Education Department.

Edwards, John –

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards, of Bolton, Lancashire; husband of the late A. Edwards; brother of Caroline Woodcock (nee Edwards), of 53, Ellesmere Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Served in the South African Campaign. Killed when a German mine exploded under the dugout.

Edwardson, Ernest –

Son of Thomas and Ann Edwardson (nee Halliday), of 8, St. James Street, Daisy Hill, Westhoughton, Lancashire.

Elliott, Walter –

Of 93, Gibbon Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 26 as an absentee from Plymouth since 19/11/1915 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 25/11/1915 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26).

Ellison, John –

Husband of Ethel Ellison, of 247, Stowell Street, Weaste, Salford, Lancashire. 18 years’ service.

Elmer, Joseph –

Uncle of Mrs. Woods, of 4 Charles Street, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Joined the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment before transferring to the King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Reported as wounded and missing, and stated to be dead by Private Matthew Woods, his nephew-in-law. Subsequently confirmed Prisoner of War.
