Came from U.S.A. to enlist at Bolton as Private 5318 in the 4th/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment; volunteered for France and was transferred to the King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Died at Rouen. Service number wrongly recorded as 4993 on SDGW.

Hilton, Walter –

Son of William and Diana Hilton, of Chequerbent, Westhoughton, Lancashire; husband of Elizabeth Hilton (nee Dootson), of 358, Park Road, Chequerbent, Westhoughton, Lancashire. SDGW incorrectly records theatre of death as Mesopotamia.

Hindley (Hingley), Oliver –

NOTE:- Served as Oliver HINGLEY. Son of the late William and Agnes Hindley. Of 9, Brancker Street, Chequerbent, Westhoughton, Lancashire.

Hodgson, Harry –

Husband of Mary Hodgson, of 61, Florence Avenue, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Posted missing since 10/04/1918 and subsequently confirmed killed.

Hodson, Joseph Merrick –

Son of William Hodson, of 21, Deal Street, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire, and the late Emily Hodson.

Holcroft, George –

Son of George and Mary Emma Holcroft, of Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly East Lancashire Regiment.

Holden, Edward Albert –

Husband of Mrs. Holden, of 586, Chorley Road, Westhoughton, Lancashire. Died of wounds to the head at hospital in Cambridge.

Holehouse, Edwin –

Husband of Mrs. Holehouse, of 47, Fylde Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1917. Captured prisoner of war 19/04/1918.

Holgate, James –

Husband of Mrs. Holgate, of 46, Norfolk Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1915. Three times wounded.

Holland, Isaac –

Son of Mrs. Holland, of Robin Lane, Higher Sutton, Macclesfield, Cheshire, and the late J. Holland; brother of Mrs. Allman, of 110, Manchester Road, Walkden, Lancashire, with whom he resided prior to enlistment. Formerly employed as a driver on the South Lancashire Tramways. Previously served in the South African campaign.

Holland; brother of Mrs. Allman, of 110, Manchester Road, Walkden, Lancashire, with whom he resided prior to enlistment. Formerly employed at Messrs Bennis’s foundry, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Previously served seven years in India.
