Eastham, Clement Vincent –

Youngest son of the late Mr. J. A. Eastham, of Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire, and of Mrs. Eastham, of 12, Savile Road, South Shore, Blackpool, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1917. Formerly Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Wounded at La Boiselle in July 1916. Commissioned.

Eden, Clarence –

Son of Sarah Jane Eden, of 7, Blackleach Row, Walkden, Lancashire, and the late Thomas Eden. Formerly employed as a colliery haulage hand. Attached No.2, Employment Base Depot from 24/05/1918. Some documents held in an uncatalogued Archive relating to Farnworth at Bolton Archives.

Edwards, George –

Husband of Mrs. Edwards, of Leigh, Lancashire. Of Little Hulton, Lancashire. Formerly Essex Regiment, discharged having been found medically unfit; and King’s Royal Rifle Corps, also discharged as not likely to become an efficient soldier. No overseas service. Claimed to have been wounded at Arras injuring his spine being buried. Hospitalised at Great Yarmouth and transferred to the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. Subsequently discharged from Cambridge Hospital. Appeared before the Bolton County Magistrates charged with illegally wearing a gold wound stripe 04/07/1918, and further for possession of an altered discharge certificate 11/07/1918. Found guilty on both charges 18/07/1918 and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.

Evans, William –

Son of William Thomas and Emma Evans (nee Cooke), of 19, Holly Avenue, Walkden, Lancashire. Captured prisoner of war 23/03/1918.

Farmer, Charles –

Enlisted and accepted in June 1915, at the age of 79 years. Stationed as a guard at the Leigh Prisoners of War Camp. Previously served 1855 to 1871, including service in the Crimean campaign.

Son of Arthur Daniel and Florence Annie Farrall, of 3, First Street, Barrow Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 4/17509, Training Reserve Bn.

Faulkner, Joseph William –

Son of George and Sarah Faulkner, of 62, Harrowby Street, Farnworth, Lancashire; husband of Sarah Faulkner (nee Allen), of 48, Northumberland Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly 5th Bn., King’s Shropshire Light Infantry.

Francis, Thomas Llewellyn –

Son of Wythan and Elizabeth Esther Francis (nee Llewellyn), of 42, Bertie Road, Wrexham, Denbighshire; husband of Ellen Francis (nee Astle), of 83 Cleggs Lane, Little Hulton, Lancashire. Middle name incorrectly spelled as LLEWELLEN on some records.
