Of 3, Harris Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 242132, 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Caught aged 24 as an absentee from 5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at Heaton Park Camp since 23/02/1918 and from Labour Corps at Fleixstowe since 17/10/1918 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 01/03/1918 and 24/10/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort. Lewtas, James Robert –

Son of Robert and Sarah Jane Lewtas (nee Langston), of 22, Fern Street, Deane Road, Bolton, Lancashire, and formerly of 39, Shipton Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted 1913. Formerly Private 10650, 2nd Bn., Border Regiment; Private 27252, North Staffordshire Regiment. Wounded in the right arm sustaining a double fracture at the Gallipoli withdrawal.

Leyland, John Robert (Bob) –

Son of Mrs. Sarah Ellen Leyland, of 119, Holland Street, Astley Bridge, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly 242262, 2nd/5th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Died 30/04/1925 aged 32 years and interred in grave C.E. 2. P1. 54. at Bolton (Astley Bridge) Cemetery on 01/05/1925.

Formerly a carter of 26, Bank Street, Farnworth, Lancashire and later of 13, Welsby Square, Farnworth, Lancashire. Brother of Charles Lindley, of 4, New Brick Row, Prestolee, Lancashire. Previous service enlisted 18/07/1910 as Private 1242, 6th Bn., Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Enlisted as Private 24912, 3rd Bn., King’s Liverpool Regiment. Transferred to 4th Garrison Bn., Royal Welsh Fusiliers as Private 47103. Discharged May 1918.

Husband of Mrs. Lingard, of 92, Peel Street, Farnworth, Lancashire. Formerly Private 50265, Northumberland Fusiliers. Wounded 06/06/1917 by bomb shrapnel through the leg.

Liptrot, Thomas –

Brother of Amy Liptrot, of 79, Bury Old Road, Bolton, Lancashire. Formerly Private 48577, 21st Bn., Cheshire Regiment. Caught as an absentee from Chadderton Camp since 03/09/1916 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 07/09/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/27).

Lockey, George –

Son of James Crowshaw and Sophia Lockey, of 13, Cross Street, Little Lever, Lancashire. Formerly Private 307208, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Suffered gas poisoning aged 21 whilst attached to the Worcestershire Regiment, and undertaking farm work in Wales in October 1917. Surname reported as LOCKLEY in BC.

Logan, Walter –

Of 52, Rudman Street, Salford, Lancashire. Formerly Private 69, 1st Bn., Manchester Regiment.

Lomas, Samuel –

Husband of Lucy Lomas, of 51, Curtis Street, Horwich, Lancashire. Formerly employed as a blacksmith’s striker at thr Horwich Loco Works. Formerly Pioneer 123573, 10th Labour Bn., Royal Engineers. Posted missing since 03/04/1918 and subsequently confirmed captured prisoner of war. Repatriated 08/01/1919.

Longworth, Albert Edward –

Son of William Longworth, manager of the Horwich Bleachworks, and Emma Longworth, of 1, Edge Hill, Horwich, Lancashire. Enlisted August 1914. Wounded in the shoulder by shrapnel August 1916. Formerly Lance Corporal 15272, 17th Bn., King’s Liverpool Regiment.

Caught aged 36 or 29 (per record) as an absentee from Sutton, Surrey since 07/03/1918 and from Worcester since 27/12/1918 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 11/03/1918 and 03/01/1919 to be sent back to his unit under escort.
