Son of James Woolley Roberts and Claudine Celia Elizabeth Roberts, of “Westfield”, Singleton Road, Kersal, Salford, Lancashire.

Robertson, Robert –

Of 61, Arden Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 33 years as an absentee from Cavendish Park, Barrow since 10/04/1915 and again since 23/09/1916. Appeared before Bolton Magistrates on 20/04/1915 and 26/09/1916 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/26 & JBO/1/27).

Formerly worked for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company at the Hunt’s Bank offices in Manchester. Enlisted November 1915. Formerly 4220, 21st Bn., Manchester Regiment. Died at Blackpool, Lancashire. First soldier interred in Kearsley (St. Stephen) Churchyard.
