Son of Mr. and Mrs. N. Ward, of 1, Lindley Buildings, Clifton, Lancashire. Enlisted November 1915. Formerly Pte. 26569, South Lancashire Regiment. Reported missing 01/07/1916 and subsequently presumed killed. Reported as Lawrence Ward in F&WJ.

Ward, Alfred –

Of 26, Rishton Lane, Great Lever, Bolton, Lancashire. Caught aged 19 as an absentee from Prescot since 13/07/1918 appearing before Bolton Magistrates 16/07/1918 to be sent back to his unit under escort. (Bolton Archives: JBO/1/29).

Ward, William Ernest –

Eldest son of Arthur Edward and Ellen M. G. Ward, of 82, Derby Street, Bolton, Lancashire. Enlisted as a private in the King’s Liverpool Regiment. Commissioned second lieutenant and gazetted to the South Lancashire Regiment. Wounded by gunshot in the chest, left arm and right hand August 1916. His younger brother served in the Bolton Artillery in Egypt.
